Catriona Gray will be attending a medical mission for children with untreated cleft lips or palates in San Fernando, La Union, on March 1.
The Miss Universe 2018 winner will take part in the event as a global ambassador of Smile Train, as seen in her Facebook post yesterday, Feb. 25. The organization is an international charity that provides corrective surgery for children born with cleft lips and palates.
Gray announced that she was a global ambassador for the charity on Feb. 4, noting that “children’s causes have been and continue to be so close to [her] heart.”
Gray has worked closely with Smile Train since she won the Miss Universe crown back in 2018. The charity has been partners with the Miss Universe organization since 2016.
For her 26th birthday on Jan. 6, the beauty queen helped raise more than P388,000 for the group with the help of over 100 donors.
“Your generosity will help as much as 30 children [receive] life-changing, comprehensive cleft care!” she said at the time.
Gray has also been helping another charity called Young Focus, a Philippine-based nongovernment organization dedicated to giving underprivileged youth access to free, quality education, proper nutrition and social welfare. Aside from her birthday fundraiser for Smile Train, she also celebrated her special day with the children of Young Focus in Tondo, Manila. /ra
