Talent manager Ogie Diaz took a jab at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) Deputy Administrator Esther Margaux “Mocha” Uson after the latter suggested that ABS-CBN should stick to facts amid the shutdown threat.
Diaz via Twitter on Feb. 17 questioned Uson by quoting the government appointee’s post directed at the media giant.
“Sa madaling salita – relaks lang [ABS-CBN] wag niyo daanin sa drama, hindi yan teleserye. Doon tayo sa facts,” Uson said. “Sagutin niyo ang mga akusasyon sa inyo sa tamang forum, sa korte at tama na ang victim card. Pls lang #YesToABSCBNShutDown.”
(In simple words, just relax, ABS-CBN. Do away with the drama, this is not a teleserye. Just stick to the facts. Answer all the accusations against you at the proper forum, at the high court and stop playing the victim card.)
Diaz then addressed Uson in jest: “‘Doon tayo sa facts.’ Sa yo galing talaga ang salitang ‘facts,’ teh (‘Stick to the facts.’ Did the word ‘facts’ really come from you, sis)? [laughing emoji].”
Uson, a staunch supporter of the Duterte administration, has drawn flak in the past for disseminating false reports and misleading information.
The former Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) assistant secretary, through her social media page Mocha Uson Blog, had shared fake reports from websites such as the now Facebook-banned Trending News Portal.
In an interview with UNTV back in 2018, however, Uson claimed that she only committed honest mistakes and did not spread fake news.
Diaz also challenged the Owwa deputy administrator to release information on what she has done to help overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) after she accused ABS-CBN of releasing propaganda.
“Ateng, mas bongga ka kung ire-release mo yung bilang at kung ano ang naitulong mo sa mga [OFW] since [Owwa] admin ka (It would be better if you release what you have done to help OFWs since you are an Owwa administrator),” he said.

Uson was appointed to her current post in Owwa last September, less than a year after she supposedly resigned from her position as assistant secretary at the PCOO. Her resignation came after being criticized for a controversial jingle on federalism she had made with blogger-friend Drew Olivar called “Pepedederalismo.”
Although Malacañang officials insist that Uson resigned, INQUIRER.net has learned from a source privy to the information that she had been fired. /ra
