Bob Ong’s 2010 hit horror-mystery novel “Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan” is set to make its way to the big screen, and award-winning actor Joshua Garcia will star in its still undisclosed ensemble.

Renowned horror director Chito S. Roño is taking the helm of the movie, ABS-CBN’s film outfit Black Sheep revealed on Instagram yesterday, Feb. 5. Roño is known for classic Filipino horror films “Feng Shui” and “Sukob”.

“Coming soon: we’ve got a [first-time] co-production with Regal Entertainment Inc. and Director Chito S. Roño for an adaptation of Bob Ong’s ‘Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan’, starring Joshua Garcia. #MamaSusanMovie,” the film company said.

The book is about the journey of Gilberto “Galo” Manansala, a university student who writes on his journal the string of unsettling and mysterious experiences he has while living with his grandmother, Mama Susan.

Before being tapped for the said film adaptation, Garcia recently starred in another horror flick, Mikhail Red’s zombie film “Block Z”.

“Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan” will be the third Bob Ong book to be adapted into a movie, with the first two being “ABNKKBSNPLAko?!” and “Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin”. NVG
