Brad Pitt has made it clear that he is not looking for love on the dating app Tinder, days after he joked about it at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Jan. 19.
The actor raised hopes of possibly matching with him online when he mentioned the app in his speech at the said event. United States TV network TNT, which aired the awards, posted a clip of his speech on its YouTube channel on the same day.
“I gotta add this to my Tinder profile,” Pitt said in jest after winning an award for his supporting role in “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood”.
The chance of finding the actor on the dating app quickly spread and appeared to have prompted others to make a profile of their own.
“Did you know that Tinder subscriptions went up like crazy because of you?” a reporter from Extra asked him when he was at the 2020 Santa Barbara International Film Festival last Thursday, Jan. 23. A video of the interview was uploaded on the show’s YouTube channel on the same day.
“I’m not on it,” Pitt said. “I’m not even really sure how it all works. It just sounded funny to me.”
Aside from joking about having an online dating profile, Pitt also drew attention after he was seen meeting his ex-wife Jennifer Anniston at the SAG Awards.
The said encounter was the first time the former couple was photographed together in over a decade, as per Entertainment Tonight on Jan. 22. This had led their fans to reminisce over the time they were married back in 2000 to 2005.
When asked about his reaction to the attention surrounding their picture, Pitt simply said, “I don’t know. I’m blissfully naïve and I’m gonna stay that way.” Ryan Arcadio/JB
