Just as any mother would, Sharon Cuneta turned emotional while bidding farewell to her daughter Frankie Pangilinan who is returning to New York, United States to continue her studies.

The megastar expressed how her heart “continues to break” as her daughter, whom she fondly calls Kakie, will again spend some time thousands of miles away from her family after 19-year-old left the country last Sunday, Jan. 19.

“She left for New York last night. Our home is suddenly so quiet again,” Cuneta said on Instagram on Jan. 20. “My sweet, loving baby girl is once again so far away from me. From us.”

“See you again soon, my Baba. I am so proud to be your mother,” she added.

Cuneta’s message came with a short clip of her and Pangilinan turning emotional as they exchanged I love yous and goodbyes.

“My heart continues to break as I miss you more and more,” Cuneta stressed. “But you’re Mama’s big girl now.”

“Am so proud of how well you’ve been doing away from home. I love you more than life itself and thank God for you and your pure heart every single day,” she added.

Before she left on Sunday, Pangilinan expressed her heartbreak for having to leave her family’s side once again, but assured that she will do her best in her studies in New York.

“[I’m] leaving tonight [crying emoji] and [I] miss my friends in [New York] but the [PH] needs so much help it pains me to say bye [because I] feel like [I] should be doing something more,” she posted on Twitter on the same day.

“[And] my dada gives the best hugs and nothing gives me more joy than hanging out [with] my mama. [I’m] literally crying [right now] what.”

She added that she broke out in tears thinking about how her little brother Miguel and her younger sister Miel would be much older when she returns to the country after four years in college, she said in the following tweet.

“[It’s] such a privilege to be able to go but nothing has made me appreciate home more than studying abroad. [But] we’ll pull [through]!! and work hard!! and do our best!!” she said in another tweet.

Pangilinan, Cuneta’s eldest child with Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, flew to the Philippines last December to spend the holidays with her family. She moved to New York in August 2019. NVG
