LISTEN: Frankie Pangilinan releases new single ‘Battlescars’—written when she was 15

It seems that Frankie Pangilinan is starting the new decade by getting everyone emo with her latest single “Battlescars”. According to her mom Sharon Cuneta, the song was written back when her daughter was 15.
The 19-year-old delivers a calm yet powerful performance with her slightly husky and chilling vocals in her new song, which she released on Spotify last Monday, Jan. 13.
“Oh we have battle scars/reminds us of our broken parts/Oh we have war wounds/reminds us what we’ve lost so soon,” she sings.
“Battlescars” is Pangilinan’s second single, and is the fourth song on her Spotify account called “kakie”, with the first three being 2018’s “Selfish”, 2019’s “tyl” and its acoustic version.
Talking about her songs, Pangilinan posted on Twitter yesterday, Jan. 14: “tyl walked so battlescars could stumble on the floor and sob.”

Pangilinan also decided to share the early feedback on “Battlescars” that she got from her fans, with most talking about how her song got them emotional.

Her latest single’s cover photo is of her friends, whom she has been introducing on Twitter with short and sweet descriptions.

Cuneta meanwhile is nothing but proud of her daughter’s latest achievement, and the megastar took to Instagram to promote Pangilinan’s new single.
“From the girl that gave you the hit TYL (True Young Lovers), which hit the charts in Canada, Australia, Finland, & of course, The Philippines. And the iTunes charts (!) – Comes her second single, ‘BATTLESCARS’,” Cuneta said yesterday.
Cuneta revealed that Pangilinan wrote the song when she was only 15 years old, and it turned out to be her mother’s favorite among Pangilinan’s songs so far.
