WATCH: Jodi Sta. Maria, Regine Velasquez sing ‘I Can’ from ’90s hit film ‘Do Re Mi’

Jodi Sta. Maria showed off her singing chops as she performed alongside Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez on the noontime variety show “ASAP Natin ‘To” yesterday, Jan. 19.

The two artists sang “I Can”, the theme song of Velasquez’s 1996 hit movie “Do Re Mi”, where she starred alongside Donna Cruz and Mike Cojuangco. Dreamscape Entertainment posted a clip of their duet on Instagram on the same day.

Sta. Maria looked elegant in a glittery, strapless blue dress while Velasquez stunned in a sparkling black and gold piece. After the performance, Sta. Maria could not help but gush over her duet with Velasquez.

She uploaded a photo from her performance with Asia’s Songbird on her Instagram page, saying, “Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I will get to share the stage with you.”

“I just want to honor this beautiful woman of God @reginevalcasid,” she added.

Sta. Maria then thanked Velasquez for the “love, support and encouragement” that she has given the actress’ upcoming show “My Single Lady”.

“The world needs more women like you, Ate Reg,” Sta. Maria said. “You truly are an inspiration.”

Velasquez is slated to make a special appearance on Sta. Maria’s latest project as a character named Mama Reg. An Instagram fan page (@_jodistamariaph) dedicated to Sta. Maria posted a clip of Velasquez’s scene last Saturday, Jan. 18.

Sta. Maria will be starring alongside actors Ian Veneracion and Zanjoe Marudo in the upcoming TV series. JB
