MANILA, Philippines — Band member and celebrity mom Saab Magalona has donated her own breastmilk to babies evacuated due to Taal Volcano’s eruption.
Magalona, known in social media circles for breastfeeding her two children and donating her milk even prior to this incident, initially had difficulty finding people who could transport her contributions.
In a tweet on Wednesday, the Cheats vocalist asked who could help her bring the milk to children in evacuation centers. Eventually, she found a way to send the so-called “liquid gold” to affected families.

Magalona, daughter of late rapper Francis Magalona, is still breastfeeding her second kid Vito. Her older child Pancho, named after her grandfather and Philippine movie luminary Pancho Magalona, was also breastfed.
Thousands were forced to leave their homes after Taal Volcano’s phreatic eruption or steam-driven episode, which caused heavy ashfall in Batangas as well as its surrounding provinces, on January 12.
Alert Level 4 is still up in Taal Volcano as government volcanologists said a powerful explosion is imminent within hours or days.
According to the Batangas’ Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, 26,294 families or 121,455 individuals have been affected by the eruption, and temporarily sheltered in 373 evacuation centers.
