Marco Gumabao stressed that money is not the answer to everything, after he was urged to donate to Taal evacuees.

The actor stated that there are more ways to help out the Taal victims following his post in light of the volcano’s recent steam-driven eruption on Instagram last Monday, Jan. 13.

The actor had claimed that the recent catastrophes the world is experiencing were “signs” that the Lord is coming. He also offered his prayers for the Taal victims, the Australia and South Korea wildfires, and the US-Iran conflict.

The post drew various reactions, and one netizen (@dummy_account796) took the opportunity to tell Gumabao to donate to the victims of Taal to show that he really cared.

“We can pray but we need to walk the talk,” the Instagram user said. “Nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao ang gawa (God has mercy on those who help themselves).”

The netizen then appealed to Gumabao to spearhead or aid relief operations for the Taal victims, and use his showbiz platform to help others, citing that it is a God-given opportunity for him.

“God needs action – not empty words…,” the Instagram user emphasized.

The actor later responded to the remark, saying, “@dummy_account796 so you think the only thing you can do to show care, is by donating??? By giving MONEY?”

“[I’ll] pray for you too,” Gumabao added. “[H]indi po pera ang sagot sa lahat (Money is not the answer to everything).”

The day after, the actor reposted a certain Jeffrey Pelayo’s call for donations on his Instagram Stories. The post listed items that the Taal victims may need, and gave details on how to join a relief operation on Jan. 19.

Along with Gumabao, other celebrities such as Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis have also offered prayers and ways to help those affected by Taal volcano’s eruption.

The volcano is currently on Alert Level 4 since it erupted on Jan. 12, meaning that a violent eruption may happen within hours or days. The volcano’s unrest has also caused more than 30,000 locals from Batangas and Cavite to evacuate their homes.  /ra
