Even after her reign as Miss Universe has ended, Catriona Gray is still pursuing her advocacy of helping underprivileged children, and she found her birthday as the perfect opportunity to do so.
Gray, who turned 26 years old on Jan. 6, gave fans snippets of her birthday celebration with the children supported by Young Focus in Tondo, Manila via Instagram yesterday, Jan. 14.
“Celebrating my birthday with my @youngfocusph family!” she said. “[Had] such an awesome day singing and dancing with all the students and staff!”
“[Can’t] think of a better way to celebrate!” she added.
A cheerful Gray can be seen handing out food to children in the series of photos. Like her fellow volunteers, she wore a black shirt with “Young Focus” printed at the front.
Young Focus is a Philippine-based NGO dedicated to giving the underprivileged youth access to free, quality education, proper nutrition and social welfare.
The beauty queen has been helping out the said charity even before joining Binibining Pilipinas and Miss Universe in 2018. Her eventual win as Miss Universe secured the financial needs of Young Focus in 2019. She previously worked with Young Focus to produce a song in 2018 titled “We’re In This Together” to promote the charity.
The former Miss Universe noted that people can donate and learn more information on how they can support Young Focus by visiting their website. NVG
