‘My sanctuary’: Ice Seguerra takes Liza Diño to Sagada for 5th wedding anniversary

Ice Seguerra brought his wife Liza Diño to Sagada, a place he considers his “sanctuary,” to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary.

The couple arrived in the picturesque town last Wednesday, Jan. 8, as per Diño’s Instagram page on the same day. She accompanied her post with photos of them striking wacky poses while clad in black hoodies.

Diño noted that it was her first time to visit Sagada, which she said is Seguerra’s favorite place.

According to her, Seguerra would travel to the said town every year since 2001 because he considered it his “sanctuary.”

“Kaso no’ng time na yun… iba ang kasama [niya],” Diño jested.

(But during those times… he was with someone else.)

She then noted that seven years after they “found each other again,” Seguerra finally brought her along. Diño also joked that she would erase all of the memories her husband had with other people.

“Happy 5th wedding anniversary my love,” Diño said.

“Di tayo nakacelebrate last December dahil sa work,” she added. “Buti na lang dalawang beses tayo kinasal…. umabot!”

(We were not able to celebrate last December because of work. Good thing we got married twice… we made it!)

The couple wed in the United States on Dec. 8, 2014, where same-sex marriage was first legalized in 2008. They also tied the knot in a ceremony in Batangas, which they considered a symbolic ceremony to celebrate their union in the presence of their family.

Meanwhile, Seguerra also marked the special occasion on his own Instagram page yesterday, Jan. 9.

He explained that Sagada is more than just a place for him, citing that it is where he finds his center. The last time he visited the small town was in 2013, when he and Liza “saw each other again.”

This time, Seguerra made the trip up to the town because he wanted to “reclaim [his] Sagada.”

“Umakyat ako dahil gusto ko, pagbaba ko, handa na ako sa kung ano man ang ibibigay sa akin ng buhay,” he added.

(I went up here because I want that when I go back down, I am ready for whatever life will give me.)

He expressed that he does not know what kind of happiness he feels now that he has returned to his special place with his wife. Seguerra also pointed out that it felt good to introduce Diño to his friends there.

“I’ve come full circle,” he said.

“Pumunta dito nung una para hanapin ang sarili, at bumalik muli kasama ang taong bumubuo ng mundo ko,” Seguerra said.

([I] went here before to find myself, and now I came back with the person who completes my world.)  /ra
