Michelle Madrigal underwent surgery to remove her breast implants, over 10 years after she got them when she was 18.
She had the procedure done in Memorial Plastic Surgery in Houston, Texas, USA, and chronicled it in a vlog on Dec. 13. At the end of the video, she said, “I feel so much lighter with my chest. I feel like I’m free.”
The actress, who is now based in the US, explained in her vlog on Dec. 4 that she got the implants when she was young and felt insecure. She said that among the women in her family, she had the smallest breasts and kept getting compared with her sister with bigger boobs.
That insecurity heightened when she joined a talent search and saw that women who posed for sexy magazines had big breasts. Madrigal was part of the talent search show “Star Circle Quest.”
Of the phase in her life that she got her boob job, she said, “At that time I did it for vanity and I thought it could fix my insecurities growing up.”
After getting the implants, she admitted, “I was never content with my own body.” She learned that getting enhancements was “not really going to fix issues inside.”
What pushed her to get the implants removed was when she got chest pains years ago. When she did her research, she found out about “breast implant illness,” which includes a number of symptoms.
Madrigal noted that the symptoms were vague, but those that she experienced included anxiety, joint pain, depression, skin rashes and ear ringing. She also felt discomfort while exercising.
It will take her two weeks to recover and she cannot do workouts for up to five weeks. It seems her recuperation is going well as she posted a picture of her sitting by a pool in sports bra and pants and declaring, “FREEDOM!!!”
She said, “4 days post op and never more in [tune] with my body.” /ra
