Darren Espanto graduated from senior high school under a homeschool program with flying colors last Sunday, Nov. 24, in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
The singer’s mother attended the ceremony alongside two aunts, an uncle, a cousin and his manager Sam Samaniego.
Espanto shared photos from his latest achievement on his Instagram page yesterday, Nov. 25. He posed in a clean, white toga while showing a medal and four certificates.
“I thought it was impossible to achieve this. Thankful that I did not doubt myself,” he said.
“Today, I am officially a graduate of SENIOR HIGH and very excited to go through the next level,” he declared. “It is true that HARD WORK PAYS OFF.”
He then took the time to express his gratitude for those who helped him finish senior high school with flying colors.
Homeschool of Asia Pacific (HAP), the program Espanto studied under, also took to social media yesterday to congratulate the singer for his latest academic feat.
“Darren finished his Grade 12 homeschool program under HAP’s [United States] school affiliate in Texas named Sanston Academy,” the program said in its Facebook post.
They pointed out that Espanto graduated with a First Honor award, The Achiever Award and an Excellence in Music and Arts award.
When asked about homeschooling, Espanto said it was very practical for him since it adjusted to his schedule and helped him learn time management. He also encouraged others to try homeschooling, especially those who have been having a hard time going to school and those who have been bullied, citing that “there are no bullies at home.”
Espanto is planning to pursue a college degree either in the business or medical field. /ra
