Actress Agot Isidro labeled President Rodrigo Duterte a “wag-du (coward)” after the latter left some hostile remarks against Vice President Leni Robredo in a press briefing, but apparently could not say it to her face.
Isidro, a staunch critic of the administration, called the President such in a tweet posted yesterday, Nov. 20, referring to an interview with Robredo where the vice president told Duterte, “dapat diretsuhin na lang ako (he should talk to me directly).”
“Kasi nga wag-du (because he is a coward),” Isidro said.

In the interview, Robredo questioned why Duterte appointed her if he did not trust her for the position in the first place.
“Dapat diretsuhin na lang ako. Diretso naman ako kausap. Kung ayaw na nya ko dito, in the 1st place, bakit ako inappoint?” Robredo asked. “Kung ayaw na niya, kung nagkamali siya sa pag-appoint sakin at gustong bawiin, sabihin lang. Kasi ako madali akong kausap, pero habang may ine-expect saking trabaho, gagawin ko.”
(He should have talked to me directly. I am easy to talk to. If he did not want me here in the first place, why appoint me? If he does not want me anymore, if he made a mistake in appointing me and he wants to take it back, just say it. Because I am easy to talk to. But until then, as long as there is work expected of me, I will do it.)
During a press conference last Tuesday, Nov. 19, Duterte said he could not give Robredo a position in his Cabinet as he “cannot trust Robredo,” since the Vice President had been talking to various groups opposed to Duterte’s bloody war on drugs.
In a separate tweet on the same day, Isidro left a stern warning to supporters of the Duterte administration.
“History will not look kindly on anyone who enabled and is aligned with this administration. Mag-isip isip na kayo (you better start thinking),” she said.

On Tuesday, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Robredo made “missteps” for talking to US officials and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, which the former called “enemies of the state.”
Robredo was made the co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs after she accepted Duterte’s offer for her to be his drug czar. /ra
