Actor Derek Ramsay has a heartfelt message for businessman Lucio “Bong” Tan Jr. in light of the news of his passing yesterday, Nov. 11. He was 53.
“Today is such a sad day for many,” Ramsay said in an Instagram post yesterday. “This man has touched the lives of so many people and [I] am definitely one of them.”
Ramsay accompanied his post with a photo of him and Tan together with another friend. The actor also described Tan as a “good man, a good person and a great friend.”
“You will be dearly missed my brother,” he added. “We love you!!!”
Aside from being a businessman, Tan was also a basketball enthusiast and player. He supported the basketball team of Batangas in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) through the Tanduay franchise, where he also held an executive position.
Ramsay had trained with and played for the said team a number of times in the past. His most recent play with them was during the MPBL games earlier this July.
Tan’s death was announced by his sister Vivienne yesterday. She did not state the cause of his death.
Prior to his passing, Tan was hospitalized last Saturday, Nov. 9, after falling unconscious during a basketball game in Mandaluyong City. He was later declared to be in stable condition.
Tan is survived by his wife Julie and sons Hun hun (Lucio Tan III) and Kyle Tan. JB
