Kris Aquino reminded her fans and followers that sisters Gretchen, Marjorie and Claudine Barretto are still grieving and that there is no need for anyone “to add to their pain” amid the controversy revolving around them.
The sisters have been the talk of the town after a scuffle broke out among them at the wake of their father, Miguel Barretto. They have since continued their feud by taking to social media to air their sides regarding the issue.
The Queen of All Media’s remark came after she greeted one of her sisters, Viel (Victoria Elisa), a happy birthday on Instagram last Saturday, Oct. 26.
Kris posted an old photo of her parents, the late Ninoy Aquino and former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, with her siblings Ballsy (Maria Elena), Pinky (Aurora Corazon), Viel (Victoria Elisa) and former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. The actress pointed out that the photo was “around 50 years old” and was taken before she was born.
“Happy Birthday, Viel,” she said. “Ang swerte ko (I am so lucky) to have sisters like you, pinky, and Ate.”
“Thanks for really being someone the 2 boys and i can count on,” Kris added.
Most of her followers followed suit and took the time to also wish Viel a happy birthday. However, one Instagram user, who goes by the handle @bie.lao, decided to poke fun at the Barretto sisters’ feud in the comments section instead.
“I hope you sisters won’t fight like the [Barretto] wild crazy sisters!! Lol!!” the netizen stated.
Kris did not seem to find the comment funny, and replied: “@bie.lao you know that they are grieving, right? [A]nd there’s no need for us to add to their pain?”
The actress’ response gained her praises from some of her fans and followers.
“[This] is real kindness and class… something that you don’t see in some people!” Instagram user @liamcalibuso said.
Meanwhile, Kris recently resolved an issue of her own—her yearlong feud with brothers Nicko and Jesus Falcis. The two parties ended their numerous court battles last Oct. 16. /ra
