WATCH: Jeff Buckley’s previously unreleased ‘Sky Blue Skin’ has new video

The rare demo was unveiled last August as part of a massive digital expansion of Buckley’s catalogue for the 25th anniversary of his debut album, “Grace”.

“Sky Blue Skin” was recorded as part of Buckley’s final studio session in September 1996, prior to his death by drowning at the age of 30 in May 1997.

“Take the pain until it all rings hollow/ We learn to loathe the truth as it shines/ I already see the ghosts on the sidewalk/ Kissing in the hereafter,” Buckley sings in the opening verse.

A few months after the song’s release, an accompanying music video for “Sky Blue Skin” has been shared online.

The animated visual, helmed by French video production company Temple Caché, notably features reproductions of Buckley’s handwritten lyrics and diary entries.

Many of the late musician’s journals and letters were compiled in the recently released book, “Jeff Buckley: His Own Voice”, which was co-edited by his mother Mary Guibert and Buckley biographer David Browne.

Drawing on various reproductions of never-before-published memorabilia, the book offers an intimate look at Buckley’s creative process and personal life.

“There have been and probably always will be those who wish to speak for my son, take credit for his success or put words in his mouth,” Mary Guibert said in a statement. “In choosing these pages to share with the world, I’m giving him the chance to speak with his own voice, for the record… and for his fans to see what a sweet, funny, amazing human being he was.” JB
