Nash Aguas bares hardships of undergoing military training

After completing the Soldiers Skills Orientation Training recently, Nash Aguas took to social media to air his thoughts on the experience.

“MAHIRAP is an understatement to describe the training both physically and mentally,” he said in his Instagram post on Sunday, Aug. 11.

He revealed that he had a tough time physically due to different drills he was asked to do—rappelling down a 40-foot tower and hiking up a mountain with a 15-kilogram bag, among others.

It was also mentally exhausting as he said he was lucky if he could sleep for two hours during the training period.

“FIRST NIGHT mag quit na talaga ako,” Aguas revealed. “To the point na tumakas ako para makatulog sa may bubong at makatawag sa bahay namin na sunduin na nila ako.”

(First night, I was really going to quit. To the point that I escaped to sleep near the roof and to call my house to tell them to pick me up.)

Aguas stated he doubted his decision to volunteer for the training, as he did not consider himself muscular enough to endure the intense physical activities.

“Kapag tinuloy ko papatayin ko lang sarili ko (If I continue this, I will just kill myself),” he said.

The actor’s view on the training changed when a sergeant spoke with him. The sergeant explained that the experiences Aguas labeled as “hard” were normal for the soldiers.

According to the actor, the main point of the training is to strip a person of all his civilian ways to mold him into better person.

He then went on to advise his fans and followers that it is not actors like him who people should idolize. Instead, they should look up to the soldiers for their love for the Philippines and the Filipinos.

“Saludo po kami sa inyo (We salute you),” Aguas said.

Aguas completed the training with fellow actors Gerald Anderson, Elmo Magalona and Jerome Ponce in Camp Tecson, Bulacan, last Friday, Aug. 9. They underwent the training as part of their preparation for their upcoming TV series together. They were all conferred the rank of private.  /ra
