Gerald Anderson remains positive, wants to be ‘better man’ amid strife

MANILA, Philippines — Despite being the subject of harsh criticisms in the wake of a recent controversy, actor Gerald Anderson has said that he remains positive in life, setting his sights on becoming a “better man.”

“Sa dami ng negativity alangan pati ako maging negative ‘di ba? The only way to fight negativity is to being positive. With positive thinking, positive vibes and doing something positive also,” said Anderson in a video posted by “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on Sunday.

“Syempre ang daming mga negative energy and if you channel that in the right way, may magagawa kang mabuti. So yun yung goal ko. To come out a better man and a better person,” he added.

The actor also admitted that his family and loved ones have been affected by the issue as well as the ruthless comments on social media.

“More than me, ‘yung mga tao sa paligid ko. ‘Yung mga mahal ko sa buhay, ‘yung pamilya ko. ‘Yun ‘yung mas masakit eh. Kasi kung ako lang, okay lang, sanay naman na ‘ko,” Anderson noted when asked of his thoughts about the negative comments he has been receiving online.

“That’s the power of social media. Pwede siyang maging kakampi mo, pwede siya maging weapon. So we have to use it the right way,” he also stressed.

Anderson has been making headlines recently alongside former girlfriend Bea Alonzo and “Between Maybes” co-star Julia Barretto.

Speculations linking Anderson and Barretto began when Alonzo posted a cryptic message hinting betrayal after photos of the two surfaced online.

Anderson, however, denied a third party was involved in his separation with Alonzo. /kga
