Mariel Rodriguez threw husband Robin Padilla a surprise birthday party on Friday, Aug. 9, months before he turns 50 in November. Rodriguez turns 35 on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The early celebration was star-studded, held at a ballroom in Fairmont Makati. It had a Filipino theme, and celebrities stunned in barongs and Filipiniana dresses.
While Rodriguez wore an off-shoulder Filipiniana gown, little Maria Isabella looked cute in a cream terno.
Even in a five-star hotel, Rodriguez ensured guests were well fed, and had food trucks set up outside the function room. Crepes, sushi, milk tea and pizza were some of the food guests could enjoy before a night of fine dining.
Padilla’s daughters Kylie Padilla and Queenie Padilla graced the event with their spouses and kids.
Showbiz personalities in attendance included veteran film producer Mother Lily Monterverde, actress Jodi Sta. Maria, actor Richard Yap, talk-show host Karla Estrada, actress Gretchen Barretto and comedian Pokwang.
Rodriguez’s fellow “Pinoy Big Brother” host Bianca Gonzalez also made an appearance with husband JC Intal.
The Gutierrez family, consisting of Ruffa Gutierrez and parents Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama, was present too.
Actress Bela Padilla and Rodriguez’s “It’s Showtime” colleagues Bayani Agbayani, Vhong Navarro, Karylle and Ryan Bang joined the party.
In line with the theme, guests left the party with a bag and pillow with Philippine ethnic patterns.
Rodriguez is expecting her second child with Padilla, a baby girl named Maria Gabriela. On Wednesday, Aug. 7, she said on Instagram that she will soon be on maternity leave. /ra
