MANILA, Philippines — “Mura tickets ko ha,” says Rhiza Pascua, CEO of MMI Live, promoter of the U2 concert on Dec. 11 at the Philippine Arena.
Her emphasis on “mura” (cheap) is a vital part of the show — in fact, the most important factor for a promoter who wants as many Filipinos to watch the Irish rock superstar band’s “The Joshua Tree Tour” that celebrates the release of “The Joshua Tree” album in 1987.
Simultaneous with the announcement of the concert on U2’s official website (u2.com) and by Inquirer (“Yuletide cheer: U2 plays Dec. 11 at Philippine Arena), MMI’s online site posted the seating plan with each section’s corresponding ticket prices.

The cheapest ticket costs only P2,499 and the most expensive is P20,499 — still way below the ticket price of past concerts of major international acts in Manila.
Curiously, the area nearest the stage, VIP Floor (standing), costs only P5,250 per person.
“That’s for U2 fan club subscribers,” explains a staffer of MMI.
