WATCH: Avril Lavigne unveils haunting video for ‘I Fell In Love With The Devil’
“I Fell In Love With The Devil” appears on the Avril Lavigne’s last album “Head Above Water”, released in February.
The song, which was co-produced by Lavigne and Chris Basford, chronicles the end of a toxic relationship.
“I fell in love with the Devil/ I am underneath his spell (Oh-oh-oh-oh)/ Someone send me an angel/ To lend me a halo/ I fell in love with the Devil/ Please, save me from this hell,” she begged in the chorus.
The accompanying music video, directed by Elliott Lester, shows Lavigne driving a hearse transporting her own coffin.
She later appears playing the piano in a graveyard, clad in a red dress whose train is not unlike a pool of blood.
“I Fell In Love With The Devil” is featured on Lavigne’s sixth studio album “Head Above Water”, which follows her self-titled 2013 album.
The LP includes the previously issued singles “Tell Me It is Over”, the Nicki Minaj-assisted “Dumb Blonde” and the title track, which documents Lavigne’s struggle with Lyme disease.
This fall, the singer will hit the road for her North American “Head Above Water” tour, marking her first trek in over five years.
As Rolling Stone points out, one dollar from each ticket purchased will go to the Avril Lavigne Foundation that supports people with Lyme disease and other serious illnesses. HM/JB
