Eddie Garcia starrer ‘Bwakaw,’ ‘ML’ to screen in CCP for free

MANILA, Philippines — The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) announced Wednesday that it will screen the late veteran actor Eddie Garcia’s award-winning films “Bwakaw” and “ML” for free.

The free screening will take place at the CCP’s Tanghalang Manuel Conde on Thursday, June 27.

The Jun Lana-helmed film “Bwakaw” will screen at 2 p.m. while “ML,” directed by Benedict Mique, will screen at 5 p.m.

CCP said screenings are strictly on a first come, first served basis. The registration will start 30 minutes before each screening outside the theater.

“Bwakaw” and “ML” were official entries to Cinemalaya in 2012 and 2018, respectively.

Garcia’s role in “Bwakaw” won him the Best Actor awards at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival,
the Asia-Pacific Film Festival in 2012, and the Asian Film Awards in 2013.

His role in “ML,” on the other hand, brought him the Best Actor award at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival in 2018, the Gawad Urian Awards and the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Science (FAMAS) Awards this year.

Garcia passed away on June 20 at the age of 90 after nearly two weeks of being in a comatose state. Last June 8, the veteran actor suffered a neck fracture after tripping on a cable wire during the taping of an upcoming teleserye. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
