Janno Gibbs, other celebs bemoan water service interruptions
As water service interruptions in Metro Manila and nearby provinces worsen, some celebrities took to social media to bemoan the lack of water in their homes.
Actor and singer Janno Gibbs did not hold back when he aired his grievances via Instagram Stories, saying his family has not had water for almost a week.
“Siguro naman may refund water bill namin! Halos isang linggo na kami wala tubig eh. Nagkakaroon lang maybe 2 hrs a day. 2x if [we’re] lucky,” Gibbs said via Instagram Stories on June 24.
(Maybe our water bill will have a refund. We have not had water for almost a week. We get water maybe 2 hours a day, 2 times if we’re lucky. Our country has really improved so much! It rained just a little bit last night and it already flooded. Amazing!)
Action star Robin Padilla also took to Instagram last June 19 and called on politicians to deliver basic services to the homes of Filipinos.

From the way you challenge China, you’d think the lives of the Filipinos are comfortable… Please deliver public service, not politicking. The next election is still far away, the campaigns just finished and you’re all still there!)

Padilla’s wife, Mariel Rodriguez, commented on his post, saying she pays huge taxes, but does not have water at home.
Tapos wala tayong tubig?!?!?!?!?!?” Rodriguez said.
(It hurts because I thought I was rich. When my tax bill came and I paid my tax, which I think is huge, there isn’t any water at home. Then, tax is due again on June 20 and June 28, what is that? I haven’t recovered yet from the huge tax I paid and there’s another one again? And then we don’t have water?)
TV host Bianca Gonzalez joined in and agreed with Rodriguez, saying it is a hassle not to have water at home.
“@marieltpadilla sobrang hassle ng walang tubig,” she said. “And yes sakit ng buwis.”
(It is really a hassle not having water. And yes, the taxes hurt).
The decline in Angat Dam’s water level has resulted in water interruptions in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. The National Water Resources Board reduced the water the dam allots to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage system (MWSS), which is responsible for distributing water supply to Maynilad and Manila Water. As per a report on June 24, the dam may breach its “record low” before the end of this week if rain does not come soon.
“Yun ang record-low 157.57 meters noong July 2010,” National Water Resources Board Director Sevilla David said. /ra
