On Thursday, June 20, DreamWorks Animation shared the first footage from its upcoming “Trolls World Tour” movie, due in theaters in 2020 — some three years after the first installment.
The sequel to this animated movie, originally created by Mike Mitchell and Walt Dohrn, sees favorite characters return for a new big screen adventure. Princess Poppy, voiced by Anna Kendrick, and Branch, voiced by Justin Timberlake, discover that there are six types of trolls, each dedicated to a different musical genre: funk, country, techno, classical, pop and rock.
After hearing that the hard-rock monarch, Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom) wants to destroy all types of music apart from rock, Poppy, Branch and their friends come up with a plan to stop her.
The trailer opens with Anna Kendrick singing “The Sound of Silence”. Her character then tries to rally her friends in a bid to thwart the plans of Queen Barb and her father, King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne).
The movie will once again feature original music from Justin Timberlake, who bagged an Oscar nomination for his track, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”, written for the first film.
“Trolls World Tour” is slated for April 17, 2020, for release in United States theaters. RGA/JB
