MANILA, Philippines — As a way of remembering Eddie Garcia, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Thursday shared a memory of him and the veteran actor who recently passed away.
“I’m suddenly reminded of our 2004 campaign,” Sotto said in a tweet.
Sotto and Garcia campaigned for the presidential bid of “Da King” Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) in the 2004 national elections. However, Poe lost to Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Sotto also served as FPJ’s campaign manager during that period.
“As FPJ was onstage, Manoy Eddie would creep in and make the crowd more jubilant,” Sotto said, remembering the late actor.
I'm suddenly reminded of our 2004 campaign. As FPJ was onstage, Manoy Eddie would creep in and make the crowd more jubilant. Ronnie will now see him as he creeps into Heaven and meet his old buddy.

“Ronnie (FPJ) will now see him as he creeps into Heaven and meet his old buddy,” Sotto added.
In a Viber message to reporters, the Senate President even imagined what FPJ would tell Garcia should they meet in Heaven. “Alam ko sasabihin ni Ronnie sa kanya… ‘Bakit ang tagal mong sumunod (I know Ronnie would tell him. What took you so long to follow)?’”
Garcia died at the Makati Medical Center on Thursday. He was 90 years old. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
