GMA Network ‘deeply mourns’ death of Eddie Garcia
MANILA, Philippines — GMA Network on Thursday said it mourns the passing of veteran actor Eddie Garcia, who died days after falling into coma following an accident while taping for a teleserye in Tondo, Manila. He was 90 years old.
It was on June 8 that Garcia suffered a neck injury after tripping and falling while shooting for an upcoming GMA teleserye tentatively titled “Rosang Agimat.”

“GMA Network deeply mourns the passing of veteran actor Eduardo ‘Eddie’ Verchez Garcia,” the network said in a statement.
“‘Manoy,’ as he is fondly called, will be greatly missed by his family, loved ones, co-workers, and fans,” it added.

“He left behind a legacy of professionalism, dedication, and love for his craft,” GMA Network also said.
Almost immediately after news of Garcia’s death came out, celebrities and politicians registered their accolades for the movie industry legend. They also conveyed their messages of sympathy to his family and loved ones. (Editor: Katherine G. Adraneda)
