Celebrated Filipino fashion designer Frederick Peralta is selling his creations in a fundraising trunk show sale to raise funds for his health recovery and living expenses.

Peralta is recuperating from a stroke he suffered in early 2018, and has since moved into Home Health Care in Anonas, Quezon City.

Michelle Garcia, a friend of Peralta, took to Facebook last June 16 to invite the designer’s friends and supporters in the industry to the Shop & Help fundraising event.

Few days ago I visited Frederick Peralta, a father and icon of the Philippine fashion industry. I call him mother Fred,” Garcia said. “Mother Fred is recuperating from a stroke suffered last year. Recently he moved in to Home Health Care, a health care service provider with a team of physicians, registered nurses, physical therapists, nutritionists/dieticians, medical technologists and trained caregivers.”

As per Garcia, help can be extended to Peralta by joining and buying from the Shop & Help trunk sale, which will be held at The Hub in Manila Marriott Hotel from June 16 to 23. Monetary contributions may also be coursed through Peralta’s sister, Len Peralta-Caro.

“Contribute directly to Mother Fred’s recovery through monetary contributions. Please contact Len Peralta-Caro (mother Fred’s sister),” said Garcia. “He deserves all our love and support!”

All proceeds from the event will go to Peralta’s funds to support his health recovery and living expenses in an elderly home, as per the event poster.

A fundraising event for Peralta was first held in June 2018 following his stroke, organized by his friends in the fashion industry. The top 20 to 30 pieces, as chosen by his friends, were priced between P25,000 and P35,000, while the rest were priced as low as P2,000.

Peralta is considered an icon of the Philippine fashion industry, with a colorful career that spans over three decades. Peralta bested designers from other countries back in 1994 when his creation won the top prize at the Concours International des Jeunes Createurs de Mode.  /ra
