Heart Evangelista on dog, pet ownership: Adopt, don’t shop

MANILA, Philippines – Actress and certified pet lover Heart Evangelista is urging individuals keen on owning a dog or other pets to consider adopting rather than shopping for one.

“Well, I just want siguro to prove na di porke’t nasa kalye yung aso parang wala na siyang lugar sa mundo,” Evangelista said in an interview over the GMA Network on Monday.

One of her furry friends is an “aspin” or native dog named Panda, who, clad in fashionable canine outfits, wowed netizens in the past.

The 34-year-old actress said that “aspins” “have a special place in her heart,” and described them as “very smart and have a purpose.”

Evangelista earlier said she is will have an animal shelter built in Sorsogon soon.

“This is step one and I am already brimming with excitement for this special project and I can’t wait to finally turn this dream into reality! Doing this one step at a time until we get there,” Evangelista said. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
