TV host and model Mari Jasmine came out in public in 2018, but she has to repeatedly come out to her grandmother, who has memory lapses.
Jasmine shared on Instagram on Wednesday, June 5, about what it is like talking to her grandma with memory loss.
“I have to keep coming out again and again to my 88-year-old grandma because her memory isn’t so good anymore [laughing emoji],” she said.
“The conversation usually goes like this:
G: So do you have a boyfriend now?
Me: No I have a girlfriend Granny
G: Oh why a girl then?
Me: I don’t know, that’s just who I fell in love with.
G: Okay then. What’s our itinerary for today?”
The Brit-Japanese blogger, who used to host lifestyle show “Etcetera” on ETC, came out and confirmed her relationship with director Samantha Lee in July 2018. Lee’s films “Baka Bukas” and “Billie and Emma” both feature lesbian relationships.
Jasmine said in October on Instagram that she was hesitant to come out because she valued her privacy, but realized she could advocate LGBTQIA+ causes.
She was previously in a relationship with actor Sam Milby. /ra
