James Reid withdraws from ‘Pedro Penduko’ due to injuries

James Reid has backed out from the upcoming “Pedro Penduko” film, where he was set to play the starring role, citing injuries.

Viva Films, Reid’s home studio, confirmed that the actor will no longer be part of the film through a statement released on Pikapika Friday, May 31.

The statement revealed that the actor’s decision is due to current spinal injuries and treatments that hinder him from performing “rigid requirements” for the project.

“James has spinal injuries and the film Pedro Penduko involves intensive training and major stunts. His regular therapy and treatment prohibit him to train hard or perform for the rigid requirements,” it read.

The production company also stated that they appreciate the actor, who has been undergoing training for the film for over a year, and his commitment to the project.

Instead of “Pedro Penduko”, Reid is now set to star alongside his girlfriend, Nadine Lustre on a Filipino adaptation of the Korean movie, “Spellbound”.

A statement regarding who will be taking Reid’s place in the film is yet to be released. Ryan Arcadio/JB
