Yassi Pressman spent her Saturday preparing classrooms in Navotas for the new school year as part of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela.
Brigada Eskwela, or National Schools Maintenance Week, is an initiative to clean, repair or maintain public school classrooms across the country.
Pressman spent her Saturday with volunteers for Save the Children and sister Issa Pressman. Save the Children is a nonprofit that protects and supports children in need.
She said in an Instagram post, “Repainted [and] varnished walls and chairs and also helped cleaned a school in Navotas!”
In another post, she showed the packed lunch she shared with fellow volunteers.
(It is tiring to bend over and sandpaper chairs before they are varnished, and after that to paint walls so that the surroundings look bright to the kids. It’s true that is tiring, but it feels good to know that when they go to school on Monday, they will smile because their classrooms look new.)
The actress, who turned 24 last May 11, has been spending past weekends of her birth month doing charity work. /ra
