MANILA, Philippines — Some celebrities did not hold back in their reactions when it came to the 2019 midterm election.

Actor and writer Alwyn Uytingco did not mince words when he shared a screenshot of the partial and unofficial results of the senatorial race on social media.

“Teka, listahan ba ‘to ng mga posibleng manalo o bilang ng mga atraso nila sa Pilipinas?” Uytingco said via Twitter on Monday, May 13.

Senator Cynthia Villar leads the race with over 24.2 million votes, followed by reelectionist senator Grace Poe, Bong Go, Pia Cayetano and Bato dela Rosa, respectively.

Actor Felix Roco, meanwhile, did not seem pleased people voted for former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla.

“May tanong ako para sa mga bumoto kay Revilla,” he said via Twitter on Monday. “Alam niyo bang magnanakaw siya?”

Revilla is currently 12th in the partial and unofficial results of the senatorial race, with over 13.9M votes to his name. He was acquitted by the Sandiganbayan from plunder cases in relation to the pork barrel scam last December 2018.

Actor and model Adrian Alandy echoed Roco’s sentiments but also asked why the Filipinos should vote for Imee Marcos.

“Bong Revilla?? Imee Marcos??” Alandy tweeted on Monday. “Kulang pa ba ang mga ninakaw nila sa bansa natin para iboto natin sila sa Senado?!”

Theater actress and singer Bituin Escalante, who supported the Otso Diretso slate, has accepted her senatorial candidates would not win.

“I didn’t expect us to win, in all honesty,” she tweeted on Monday. “But that act of defiance of shading my oppositionist slate was a win in itself.”

She also quoted poet Dylan Thomas, writing, “‘Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage rage against the dying of the light.’ #CALMMATHGRAD.”

Actress Janine Gutierrez was also unhappy with the partial and unofficial results of the election, as she shared a message from her “frustrated” barkada’s group chat.

“My friend: ‘Talo talaga ng sikat yung mga matalino. In the same way na talo ng malalandi yung magaganda.’ Aray,” Gutierrez tweeted on Monday.

She tweeted again hours later, this time with much fervor. “OMG PILIPINAS YOU’RE BREAKING MY HEART. Nakakaiyak.”

As of this time of writing, 82,228 of 87,861 vote counting machines have been transmitted or 93.60 percent, with a voter turnout of 45 million out of the 63.6 registered voters or 71 percent. (Editor: Cenon B. Bibe Jr.)
