Jake Zyrus’ ex-girlfriend Alyssa Quijano wows judges in ‘Idol Philippines’
MANILA, Philippines — Alyssa Quijano made a bold move during her audition for “Idol Philippines” when she performed “Araw-Gabi” by Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, a judge in the hit show.
As Quijano faced the panel of judges in the competition’s episode aired over the weekend, she introduced herself and also opened up about her past relationship with singer Jake Zyrus.
“Marami akong na-sacrifice doon sa relationship namin kasi I stopped singing, nawala ‘yung Alyssa na kilala ko. I was just giving my all na parang nakalimutan ko na ‘yung sarili ko,” Quijano revealed.
(I sacrificed a lot in that relationship because I stopped singing. I lost the Alyssa I know. I was just giving my all that I forgot myself.)
“After the breakup, ‘yung medyo nakaka-move on na ako, I learned a lot from that relationship. Alam kong mahirap din ‘yung mga pinagdaanan niya and I believe na pareho kaming natuto sa mga pagkakamali namin,” she added.

“You gave it your own twist, you gave it your own version. I am so happy you’re back. You are meant to do this,” she added.
Meanwhile, judge Moira Dela Torre advised: “Never ever put your dreams on hold ever again. Because this is clearly for you.”
She earned the nod of all the judges, including Vice Ganda and James Reid.
Quijano joined “The X Factor Philippines” in 2012 as part of a group called A.K.A Jam. Zyrus was a judge at the competition at the time.
Quijano and Zyrus first confirmed their relationship in 2013 but broke up in 2017. /ee
