Heftier repertoire expected for Shawn Mendes’ second PH visit
Shawn Mendes, the guitar-toting pop star whose good looks and soulful, pop-rock tunes captured the hearts of legions of tweens and teens worldwide, is set to return to the Philippines for a one-night concert at SM Mall of Asia Arena on Oct. 10.
The show—mounted by MMI Live—is part of the Asian leg of the Canadian artist’s ongoing world tour, which was launched in support of his self-titled third studio album. Ticket reservation begins on May 4, 10 a.m., via MMIlive.com; redemption will be on May 10 to 12 at SM outlets.
Meanwhile, fans who intend to score tickets at an earlier date may do so via Shawnaccess.com until tomorrow. Ticketless VIP upgrades will also be available on May 17.
The 20-year-old singer-songwriter, whose three albums have all reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, previously performed in the country in 2017, dishing out a sweet, but relatively short set of only 14 songs.
With more new material under his belt, the two-time Grammy Award nominee is expected to bring in a heftier repertoire, including his latest hits “In My Blood,” “Youth” and “Lost in Japan,” as well as earlier fan favorites like “Stitches,” “Treat You Better” and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
