The teaser of GMA 7’s new rom-com series, “I Love You Two” (weeknights after “Sahaya”), has caught my attention. It seems to be quite a charming series. The unusual pairing of Gabby Concepcion and Jennylyn Mercado is like a breath of fresh air.
The show’s catchy title makes us ponder the possibility of loving two people at the same time. Let the characters played by Gabs, Jen and Shaira Diaz help us find out if our heart is capable of having a “double program” or a dual function.
Here’s my chat with Jen:
In what way can you relate to your character in the show? Just like Raffy (the character I portray), there’s nothing I won’t do to make my family happy. Raffy and I have the same question, “How far am I willing to sacrifice my own happiness for my family?”
What excites and challenges you about your role? The challenging part for me is how to make the audience laugh and make them empathize with the pain that Raffy is going through. What excites me is being part of GMA’s first “telepelikula.” I’m amazed at the equipment used and the color grading.
Just like your character Raffy, would you fall for an older man? Age is neither a hindrance nor a category in choosing the ones we love.
Any amusing off-cam anecdote with Gabby? He shares corny jokes, yet they totally crack me up.
What’s the best and toughest part of being Jennylyn Mercado? The toughest part is being judged by people who don’t know the real me. The best part is having the support of my loved ones, no matter how crazy show biz gets.
Guess List
Seasoned actor (SA) was excited about the possibility of working with one of his crushes in the biz. However, when he got the offer, SA was disappointed. He was hoping to be paired with his crush. But it turned out to be a father role. So, SA begged off from the project. He lamented, “I’ve been paired onscreen with younger actresses. Why not this time with her?”
Ooh la la! The crush has crashed.
Young show biz sweethearts can hardly wait to get hitched. But the father of the girl is not too keen about it. He reprimanded his daughter, “Since your boyfriend is the breadwinner, you will be considered a kontrabida by his family since you will take him away from them.”
So, it’s tie the knot, este “not,” for the millennial couple, for now.
