Actress-comedian Pokwang was quite touched by the hospitality of some Filipinos she met while waiting for her family at an airport in Hawaii.
Pokwang was waiting for partner Lee O’Brian and daughters Malia and Mae to arrive from the Philippines, as per her post via Instagram on April 22. However, their Philippine Airlines flight got delayed and she was left to wait for six hours.
“Super na delay ng 6 hours ang flight nila! So ako 10:30 a.m. Hawaii time nandito na ako sila papang 2:30 pm. pa landing Hawaii time na dapat kung hindi sila na delay sa Pinas dapat mga 9 a.m. nandito na sila sa Hawaii!” said Pokwang.
(Their flight got super-delayed by six hours! I was here at 10:30 a.m., but their landing time was moved to 2:30 p.m. They should have landed in Hawaii around 9 a.m. if they were not delayed).
She added she was tired and still had not slept since her show in Las Vegas the previous day and her family’s delayed flight just made her all the more worried.
Despite feeling hungry from all the waiting, she could not eat since no one would be watching over her luggage. She then said a group of Filipinos in the airport felt sorry for her and decided to buy her food.
“Ginutom ako di ko maiwan ang bagahe ko naawa sa’kin mga ate sa airport,” she said. “Binantayan nila ako at binilhan ng food.”
(I got hungry but I couldn’t leave my baggage. The sisters in the airport felt sorry for me. They looked after me and bought me food.)
Their kind act reduced her to tears and she extended her gratitude to them for taking care of her.
“Naiyak ako… Salamat mga ate God bless you po and ingat kayo lagi po (I cried… Thank you sisters, God bless you, and take care always),” said Pokwang. /ra
