Dingdong Dantes isn’t going anywhere. The Kapuso actor renewed his contract with GMA Network on Monday, April 22, choosing to stay loyal to the network he has called home for the past 21 years.
Dantes paid homage to his home network via Instagram yesterday, April 23. Leaving GMA seemed unthinkable for Dantes; it’s where he met his now wife actress Marian Rivera, after all, and had his two children.
“21 years na ako sa Kapuso network, higit sa kalahati na ng buhay ko (I’ve been with the Kapuso network for 21 years, that’s more than half of my life),” Dantes said.
“Dito ko nakilala ang aking napangasawa, dito ako nagkaroon ng panganay, at ngayon, dito na rin ako nagkaroon ng pangalawa (I met my wife here, this is where I had my eldest and now, our second).”
Dantes called GMA his “tahanan” (home) and said it’s only apt that he fulfills all his dreams for his family there.
“Ang GMA ay aking tahanan kaya’t dito ko rin bubuuin at tutuparin ang mga pangarap ko para sa aking pamilya (GMA is my home and it’s also here where I will build and fulfill my dreams for my family),” he said. “Salamat, GMA, sa tiwala. Hindi ko kayo bibiguin. Mahal ko kayo (Thank you, GMA, for the trust. I won’t let you down. I love you).”
Dantes is slated to topbill the network’s local adaptation of popular Korean drama series “Descendants of the Sun” as “Big Boss,” or Captain Yoo Si-jin. Apart from acting, he also shared during his contract signing that he planned to do more work behind the camera as a creative consultant or a director for GMA Pictures. /ra
