Proud morenas Winwyn Marquez, Mica Javier and Hannah Pangilinan expressed love and self-acceptance for their brown skins, in light of the recent issue on skin-whitening advertisements.

In reaction to a skin-whitening ad, beauty queen Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez took to Twitter last Saturday, April 13, to remind women to be proud of their skin colors.

“[Ito] lang masasabi ko. Girls love [yourselves] kahit ano pa kulay niyo! Be proud! Ako na nagsasabi maganda kayo. Wag na wag kayo maniniwala sa mga ganitong nakakainis na ad,” the “Reina Hispanoamericana 2017” said.

(This is what I can say: Girls, love yourselves no matter what your color is! Be proud! I am telling you, you are beautiful. Do not believe these annoying ads.)

Last February, the model-actress showed off her morena skin in an Instagram post, saying that she is “morena and proud.”

Singer-songwriter Mica Javier also weighed in on the conversation, flaunting her brown skin in a photo of her basking in the sun in a bikini on Instagram on Sunday, April 14.

“Gotta love the skin [you are] in. We Pinays live in the tropics, we got melanin in our skin, it protects us, it adds [color], [It is] God’s design why change [it?] Might as well embrace it,” Javier stated in the post.

The singer also mentioned her “thunder thighs” and curves, saying these only mean she is “strong [and] athletic,” which she explained is needed for her to get through “this life journey.”

Meanwhile, Maricel Laxa’s daughter Hannah Pangilinan also aired her sentiments on skin whitening in an inspirational Instagram post on April 15. The YouTuber addressed the post to girls of all skin colors.

“To my fellow morenas, halfies or lighter-skinned girls; yup, all of you! [Yes,] there will be people who will try to tell you otherwise, but know that you have the power to choose who to listen to,” Pangilinan expressed.

“Craving to be accepted and loved will never be satisfied by changing the outer appearance or chasing ‘perfection.’ [We will] never meet the measure if our measure is dictated by others,” she added.

The young personality also emphasized that what is important is in the heart, citing Bible verse 1 Samuel 16:7. She also reminded her fans to be confident, saying, “Walk in your beauty, no matter what you think it might look like in the eyes of the world.” /ra
