Though Kris Aquino is known for her love for the finer things in life, she has proven that she can let go of some comforts for her loved ones, especially her family.
Aquino shared a picture of herself, her two sons and Yaya Bincai resting in one room of their serviced apartment in Japan. Josh and Bimby stayed on the beds while Aquino and Bincai stayed on comfortable futons on the floor.
“Heneral Luna” star John Arcilla commented that he was surprised to see Aquino sleeping on the floor. “Kaka-amaze ka @krisaquino di ko na-imagine na you can do that. Mahiga sa mattress on the floor just to be with the people that you love. God bless you always.”
(You are amazing Kris, I couldn’t have imagined that you can do that, to lie down on a mattress on the floor just to be with the people you love.)
Aquino shared that it was not new to her, given the experience of sleeping in dad Ninoy’s jail cell during her childhood. “Martial Law years we got to spend Christmas Eve in my dad’s cell,” she said.
“For me it was an adventure, I’d say para kaming (we were like) John en Marsha and all the kids slept nakalatag lang yung mga manipis na mattress (while thin mattresses were laid down).”
She expressed her gratitude for the soldiers who allowed gifts from her grandparents inside the cell and said she hoped she could at least find those soldiers’ grandchildren to treat them to toys.
“Kasi nagpakita ng kabutihan sa 4 or 5 years old na Kris yung mga lolo nila (for sure nilabag nila yung rule na bawal kausapin or maging ‘close’ sa dad ko),” she said.
(Because their grandfathers showed kindness to the 4- or 5-year-old Kris; for sure they broke the rule of speaking to or becoming close to my dad.)
Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. was one of the first to be arrested after President Ferdinand Marcos proclaimed martial law in 1972. Ninoy was a staunch opponent of the authoritarian Marcos administration and would be imprisoned for seven years.
Aquino also said that she wished to work with Arcilla, stating that she has a “beautiful script” with a role “perfect” for the actor. She noted that she would need medical clearance for the “physically taxing role” but the script “felt so right” that she wants to work on it. JB
