Yasmien Kurdi finished her undergraduate studies with honors — no mean feat as a working student, mother and wife.
The 30-year-old actress, who stars in the GMA teleserye “Hiram na Anak”, shared a picture of her medal and her graduation pictures in an Instagram post Saturday, April 6. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Arellano University in Manila.
“I am beyond grateful and humbled. All the hard work for many years in college paid off,” she said. “To all the working students, never stop reaching for your goals and dreams in life!”
“Feed your mind with positivity like ideas of success, not failure. Let life be a learning experience and always believe in yourself!” she advised.
The graduation ceremony held Saturday at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) was attended by Kurdi’s family members, including husband Rey Soldevilla Jr., daughter Ayesha and mom Miriam.
Soldevilla and Ayesha also took the time to make a video congratulating Kurdi for her academic achievements.
Balancing acting, being a parent and studying has been a years-long challenge for Kurdi.
While taping “Hiram na Anak” in February, she shared with fans via Instagram pictures of her preparing for her thesis defense the following day. As the results show, she passed with flying colors.
Previously, she took up courses in foreign service and nursing, but did not complete them due to her hectic schedule, she told the Philippine Daily Inquirer last February.
After graduation, she said she wants to continue acting, though a master’s degree in consular and diplomatic affairs could be on the horizon. Kurdi has a soft spot for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) — her mom worked as one and she lived in Kuwait during her childhood.
