MANILA, Philippines — Actress Kim Chiu drew inspiration from two blind triathletes and completed a duathlon she joined over the weekend.
Chiu posed with the two blind triathletes named Joshua and Jerome in an Instagram photo posted on Monday.
“Still in awe of these 2 triathletes on how they are motivated despite being blind. Just shows that there is no excuses, if you really want to do something, you can’t say ‘hindi ko kaya’ coz look at them,” Chiu wrote in the caption.
“I immediately have high respect to Joshua and Jerome. They only have the rope that they’re holding that is connected to their partner and that’s it. But the speed is really up to them,” she added.
The 28-year-old actress-host also shared the struggle she faced while participating in the duathlon, which she conquered – largely inspired by Joshua and Jerome.
“During the race, those uphills killed me on the bike course. Almost gave up, I almost went down and just push my bike upwards but I was thinking sila nga hindi nakikita yung daan pero nakapagbike sila ako pa ba na wala lang tamang tulog and training. So this really pushed me and biked myself upwards!” Chiu recalled.
“Then tadahhh!!! good thing I didn’t give up!!!! It really matters to your motivation!!! just like in life we have to be motivated on what we want to achieve so motivated on what we want to achieve so that we cant have that option to give up!” she added.
In a separate post, Chiu happily shared that she finished the duathlon despite having little time to train and lack of sleep.
“Had a little time training for this event due to prior schedule, came from davao went home just to fix my stuff, slept for 2 hours in the car going to clark then boom!!!! here I am!!! successfully finished a 5km run 20km bike and 2.5km run!!!” Chiu proudly shared. #
