Jasmine Curtis-Smith has no qualms about portraying a mother role in GMA 7’s epic drama, “Sahaya” (weeknights after “Kara Mia”). That’s how invested she is in her craft. The Kapuso sweetheart is game for anything.
Here’s my chat with Jasmine:
What made you accept the offer to do the series? I like to be part of projects that showcase different cultures, traditions and beliefs. It adds more flavor to the storyline.
Do you mind portraying a mother role? I honestly don’t understand the fuss about playing a young mother role. It’s a natural role for a woman and, in this specific story, it is accurate and appropriate to their culture to be a young mother. Young Manisan’s story shows how it challenges the norm of the Badjao tradition.
What about the show are you most proud of? This is not an easy show to shoot and everyone is really putting his or her 100 percent, so it’s hard to pick just one thing about it to be proud of.
What do you find hard to understand about men? Nothing. They’re easy to understand if you just accept them as simple (laughs).
What makes your relationship with your boyfriend work? Honesty and an open mind, even when it hurts a little. You can’t move forward together if you can’t openly and honestly communicate with each other.
What’s your fetish? What are your pet peeves? Fetish? That sounds a little too sexual (laughs). What makes me happy na lang: Being organized and on time. My pet peeves: People who arrive late, and lack of information.
What’s the craziest thing that you and your sister, Anne, have done? Probably that one time she dragged me out to drink in Melbourne, and I got drunker than her. We had to walk home that night.
Angelica, no ‘show biz’ talk
I have always liked Angelica Panganiban’s straightforwardness. She never gives trite “show biz” answers. In Angelica’s recent guesting stint in “Gandang Gabi, Vice,” she lamented, “Sana ’di na ako masaktan muli” (I hope I won’t get hurt again).
After Angelica’s relationships with John Lloyd Cruz and Derek Ramsay ended, a budding reconciliation with her ex, Carlo Aquino, was thwarted. She revealed that she has already “unfollowed” Carlo on Instagram. Too bad that the “CarGel” mania was short-lived.
Vice was teasing her to Zanjoe Marudo. Z and Ange admitted that they both felt “kilig” (giddy) in some of their scenes in “Playhouse.” Now that the sitcom is over, what will they do about their mutual attraction? But if Z is not the one for Ange, I certainly hope her Mr. Right comes soon.
After all the heartaches she’s been through, love owes Angelica a better fate and happier tomorrow.
