Due to “insistent demand,” a new seating section at Araneta Coliseum will be opened for the already sold-out, one-night show of American singer-songwriter Lauv on May 20, according to local promoter Ovation Productions.
Limited tickets for the additional Upper Box spots will go on sale on March 25 (call 9115555).
After the Manila stop of his Asian Tour, Lauv will fly to Cebu City the next day, May 21, and take the stage at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino (call 4702222).
This will be the 24-year-old recording artist’s third visit to the country, after doing a series of mall shows in 2017 and taking part in a music festival last year.
Lauv, whose real name is Ari Staprans Leff, has become popular—particularly in the Philippines—for his slick and dreamy love tunes swathed in both ambient and finger-snapping electronic synths and beats.
He has so far amassed over two billion streams on Spotify alone and is behind the hit “I Like Me Better” and other fan favorites like “Enemies,” “Paris in the Rain” and “I’m so tired,” a collaboration with Troye Sivan. He has also written hits for other acts, including “No Promises” by the Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato and “Boys” for Charli XCX.
Meanwhile, serving as front act for Lauv in his Manila and Cebu concerts is 19-year-old German-Canadian pop singer Megan Bülow, who was hailed breakthrough artist of the year at the 2019 Juno Awards.—ALLAN POLICARPIO
