Catriona Gray recounts journey to 2018 Miss Universe triumph

MANILA, Philippines  – Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray recounted on Tuesday walked down memory lane and recalled the day her dream came true — being crowned as the 2018 Binibining Pilipinas candidate who will represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant.

Gray, in an Instagram post, posted a clip of the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 coronation night highlights captioned: “One year ago today…”

“This was a night that the dream to represent my country came true. Joining @bbpilipinasofficial despite my fears, proving all those people who said I couldn’t wrong,” she said

Gray also shared her takeaway from her journey: “I realized that night that those doors that closed on me in the years prior were not denying me but redirecting to something even better than I could ever have dreamed of.”

The beauty queen started her journey in the pageantry when she joined the Miss World Philippines in August 2016, representing Albay.

She won the local and finished in the top 5 of the Miss World 2016 pageant.

In March 2018, Gray took a second shot at winning a national pageant by joining Binibining Pilipinas 2018 where she was named the Miss Universe Philippines 2018.

“Sometimes the Universe has bigger things in store for you…you just need to stay true to yourself, surround yourself with people who believe in you, put the work in and have faith. Forever a Ms. Philippines…forever a Binibini,” Gray ended her post.
