If it were up to him, Jason Abalos would like to get married and start a family with his longtime girlfriend, beauty queen Vickie Rushton, in the near future.

He’s ready, the actor said—“matagal na.”

But of course, the decision isn’t only his to make. “I’m waiting for her. There are still a lot of things she would love to do and I do hope she accomplishes all of those. I don’t want her to end up regretting that she didn’t do this or that,” Jason told reporters in a recent pocket interview for “Bihag,” an upcoming afternoon soap on GMA 7 that also stars Max Collins.

Vickie placed 4th in the reality series “Pinoy Big Brother: All In” in 2014, and was 1st runnerup in the Binibining Pilipinas. Does she have plans of entering once more? “I don’t know yet,” said Jason, who already sees himself being a father. “I don’t want to grow old not being able to play with my child.”

“At our age, it’s something you think about,” added the 34-year-old Kapuso talent, who has never considered living in with Vickie. “She comes from a very conservative family—marriage must come first.”

Although Jason and Max were both part of the soap “The One that Got Away” last year, their characters didn’t have much screen time with each other or interaction. “We barely had any scenes together back then, so I’m happy I’m getting to really work with her this time around,” he said. “There wasn’t any awkwardness; we had instant connection.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
