Many celebrities have since mourned comedian Chokoleit, real name Jonathan Aguilar Garcia, after he passed away on Saturday, March 9. The 46-year-old Chokoleit was in Abra when he died shortly after his performance.

According to his attending physician at the Abra Provincial Hospital, the comedian died of pulmonary edema and heart attack, as per ABS-CBN.

Best friends and fellow comedians Pokwang and K Brosas wrote heartbreaking posts to pay homage to Chokoleit. Brosas and Chokoleit are godparents of Pokwang’s baby daughter Malia.

“Gusto ko masaya ang alaala ko sayo bff Chokie, wala na paglagyan ang luha ko!!!” Pokwang wrote today, March 10.

(I want my memories of you to be happy memories. I have nowhere left to pour out my tears.)

Pokwang remembered how Chokoleit brought a standee of her back in 2009 to the Star Magic ball since she was not able to attend.

Hindi mo ako iniwan ng gabing yon… pero bakit kagabi iniwan mo na kami?” she asked. “Dapat magkasama tayo sa Abra kung natuloy ako, baka mas hindi ko kakayanin kung nandon ako.”

(You did not desert me that night. But why did you already leave us last night? We should have been together in Abra had I been able to go. I may have not been able to bear it all the more had I been there.)

Pokwang has no regrets, however, saying she never missed saying “I love you” to Chokoleit whenever they would talk on the phone.

Brosas, meanwhile, cursed at Chokoleit for going first.

“Nauna ka syet ka!! Bwisit ka Chokoleit!!! Bakit?????” Brosas said via Instagram. “Lord… give me strength para maintindihan po at malagpasan to.. Pls lang po.. mahal na mahal kita Chokie…”

(You went ahead first! Damn you, Chokoleit! Why? Lord give me strength to understand and get through this, please. I love you so much, Chokie.)

Fellow comedian and actor Vice Ganda also took to social media to mourn Chokoleit’s death.

“Thank you Lord for giving me a chance to meet Chokoleit and become his friend,” Vice Ganda wrote via Twitter on March 10. “But happy that he’ll be in a much peaceful and happier place now with you.”

Vice Ganda thanked his friend one last time, saying, “Thanks for everything Chokie, I love you!!! Rest well my friend.”

Not long after, the overcome Vice Ganda tweeted again and asked for strength from the lord.

“Oh my Lord this is really sad,” he said. “Pls give us strength.”

Actress Kim Chiu also took to Twitter on the same day where she expressed her disbelief over Chokoleit’s death.

“Still can’t believe how life passes by,” she said. “Nakakagulat… Di ka makapaniwala…… RIP Chokoleit.” (It is shocking. Unbelievable. Rest in peace, Chokoleit.)

Paulo Avelino, too, lamented Chokoleit’s passing on the day of his death.

“RIP @chokoleitWiTs. The laughter and happiness you brought to everyone will surely be missed,” Avelino tweeted on March 9. “Such a sad day.”

Singer-actor Ogie Alcasid, meanwhile, offered prayers for Chokoleit’s loved ones.

“So sad to hear about Chokoleit,” he said via Twitter. “Prayers of grace for his loved ones. RIP dear friend.”

Actor and singer Carl Guevarra shared a video of Chokoleit’s performance via Facebook today. In the video, the comedian can be seen struggling and seemed short of breath while delivering his lines. As per Guevarra, Chokoleit was rushed to the hospital in Vigan afterwards, but did not make it. JB
