Coco Martin to shoulder late indie actor’s funeral expenses

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Coco Martin has offered to shoulder the funeral expenses of late indie actor Kristofer King who died on Saturday, Feb. 23.

King, whose real name is Christopher Reyes, was 36.

Joan Reyes, King’s widow, shared her conversation with Martin when the actor visited her husband’s wake on Monday.

“Tinatanong na niya ako, ‘Magkano lahat ang babayaran? Ano ang nangyari? Bakit namatay siya? Bakit biglaan? Sinabi ko naman lahat-lahat sa kanya,” Reyes said, as quoted in a report by entertainment site Pep.

“Tapos, sabi niya sa akin, ‘sige, sagot ko na lahat,’” she added.

Martin and King had worked together in Brillante Mendoza’s “Masahista” (2005) and “Serbis” (2008).

King also acted alongside Martin in the ABS-CBN’s hit television series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” playing the role of Alwyn Recio. /muf
