The sensation behind Marie Kondo’s “KonMari” method has permeated the lives of some celebrities, starting with actress-host Jolina Magdangal and Jessy Mendiola following suit.

Mendiola recently shared to her fans her latest YouTube vlog, which shows her decluttering her wardrobe and keeping only those that sparked joy. She started off by getting rid of an orange maxi-dress that she already wore in an interview and a trip abroad.

She then moved on to a plaid, oversized polo, which she decided to keep for its sentimental value.

“Ito yung oversized polo ko nung time na tinatago ko yung insecurities ko, so di ko siya ma-let go,” she said in the video posted on Feb. 21.

“Until now ginagamit ko pa rin siya. Kahit minsan feeling ko medyo bloated ako, medyo malaman ako. Four years na ‘tong nasa akin. Hindi ko siya ma-le-let go.”

Mendiola was practical in her decluttering and advised her fans to do the same by keeping essentials, such as a little black dress, that can be used for many occasions.

“Sobrang importante ng little black dress for a girl,” she said, saying it can be used for date nights or nights out with the girls. “Dapat lahat tayo meron tayong one little back dress sa ating closet.”

She also brushed off the faux pas of repeating clothes: “It’s ok to repeat clothes, it’s ok na mag mix and match.”

Meanwhile, she got rid of some boxing gloves, an old pair of slippers, a charger she already forgot about, and clothes that no longer fit her, among others. An important thing that she did not miss to remind her fans was to always go for comfort.

“Comfort over anything. Stylish, but at the same time, dapat comfortable ka sa suot mo,” she said. “Bakit mo pa susuotin?”

While Mendiola spent her time decluttering her closet, Magdangal on her end tried the KonMari method when it came to letting go of her shoes. Magdangal took to social media last Feb. 12 and showed her fans a photo of her trying pairs of her heels to see if they still sparked joy.

In the end, Magdangal reached out to her fans who expressed interest in her old footwear.  /ra
