MANILA, Philippines — Regine Velasquez did not hold back her dismay to a fan who targeted Morissette Amon for accepting the former’s offer to give her the song “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka.”

A netizen tagged Amon’s Twitter handle and said, “Hey @itsMorissette, hindi mo man lang tinanggihan si Queen Regine nung ine-echos ka nyang iyo na ang kanta. Mahadera ka kasi! Feeling mo talaga.. starlet ka lang!”

“NEVER MO MARARATING kahit 1/4 ng achievements ni Regine or ni Sarah man. Magka-hit song ka muna ulit! Kagigil ka!” the tweet added.

Despite not being tagged in the tweet, it apparently reached Velasquez and led her to fume at the fan who bashed Amon.

“Guys whats wrongs with me giving the song to her??? That song will always be mine but the truth is hindi ko naman ma rerecord yun at wala na akong magagawa dun. Ba’t ba mas marunong pa kayo sakin?” Velasquez said in a tweet on Tuesday.

“I want her to Record the song so the new generation will know the song. It will have a new life. She will definitely own it syempre because that’s what we do. Ako pag kumakanta ng songs ng ibang tao, hindi naman sila nagrereact ng ganyan,” she added.

This was after Velasquez and Amon shared the stage on “ASAP Natin ‘To” last Sunday to perform the Asia’s Songbird’s 2003 hit song “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka.”

After the performance, Velasquez told Amon, “I just want to say, you own this song, and I’m happy that you’re singing it, because it’s giving another life to the song. Wala na akong magagawa sa kantang ‘yan, so it’s yours. Thank you for singing it.”

Velasquez also justified the reason why she gave the song to Amon saying, “I happen to love this girl because I think she is so talented. Utang na loob wag OA!!!!!”

“At pwede wag nyo ko sabihan na bubusit kayo sakin dahil binigay ko yung song Hindi ako ang May ari ng song songwriter ang karapat dun I’m just an interpreter,” she said. The 2003 hit song was written by Velasquez’s husband Ogie Alcasid.

“Besides, my body of work is MY BODY OF WORK I don’t need you protect that coz that’s finished already. Umiinit ulo ko sa inyo. Ang pinaka ayoko yung napapahiya sa kagagawan ng ibang tao!!!! I’m disappointed,” she added.

Velasquez and Amon have shared the stage numerous times after the former transferred to ABS-CBN last October 2018. /cbb
